Bronxville's defending state champion football team beat Tuckahoe 21-7 on Saturday, Oct. 10, and now faces its biggest regular-season test yet.
The 4-1 Broncos host 5-1 Pleasantville at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Bronxville High School. Both teams are unbeaten in league play, and both teams are competing for the top seed in the Section 1 Class C playoffs, according to MyHometownBronxville. Each squad's lone loss came against a Class B opponent from Section 2 in the first week of the season.
The Tuckahoe game tested Bronxville in a way its recent schedule had not. The Broncos entered on a roll, posting three consecutive shutouts over Albertus Magnus, Dobbs Ferry and Valhalla. Tuckahoe, the 2025 Class D state runner-up, held Bronxville scoreless through the first half.
The Tigers took a 7-0 lead in the third quarter before the Broncos rallied for three unanswered touchdowns to pull away. Defensive back Liam Marcus recorded an interception in the win.
The victory extended Bronxville's winning streak to four games after a season-opening 34-28 loss to Class B Averill Park on Sept. 4. Head coach Patsy Manganelli, the 2025 New York State Head Football Coach of the Year, guided the Broncos to a 12-0 record and the Class C state championship last season.
Quarterback Theo McMurray and lineman Henry Scholes were named to LoHud's Super 11 list in August, recognizing the top players in Section 1 regardless of classification. Senior co-captains Charlie Atkeson, Will Molloy and Anton Schmidt were named to the preseason Super 11 Watch list.
Schmidt captured the program's mentality in a September season preview: "We practice how we play … and that's part of the reason why we've seen so much success recently."
The varsity roster includes 32 players, 18 of them seniors who have played together since elementary school.
After Saturday's game against Pleasantville, Bronxville closes the regular season on the road at Haldane before the Class C playoffs begin.
