Artist Brian Arditi will open two new shows at the Bronxville Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 7, with a free reception from 2 to 5 p.m.
The dual exhibit marks Arditi's fourth annual show at the library, according to the Yonkers Times. The Yeager Room Gallery will feature 50 new works under the title MODERN EARTH. The pieces are described as inspired by and made using all-natural, hand-collected materials from around the country.
A second, smaller show called MIRRORS will hang in The Little Gallery. It includes 10 new works featuring mirrors and the concept that seeing ourselves in art, or one another, makes anything possible.
The opening reception will include drinks, music and refreshments. Both exhibits will remain on view through Jan. 28, 2027, during regular library hours.
Arditi has built his practice around pulling pigments from flowers, rocks, dirt, clay and crystals. In a 2012 studio visit published by Highbrow Magazine, he described the philosophy behind his method: "I want to be as close as possible to what art started as, but with a modern twist."
He told the magazine he dyes a thick lacquer with natural pigments and uses the solution to paint. He said the lacquer took three years of trial and error to perfect, serving as "a preservative, a protectant, and a shape-keeper."
Arditi's third annual show at the library, called Shattered: Abstracts and Glass, opened in November 2025 and ran through late January 2026, according to the Yonkers Times. That exhibit focused on broken glass as a material.
The Bronxville Public Library is at 201 Pondfield Rd. Admission to both shows is free.
