Mrs. Morgan's Flower Shop, the Parkway Road florist that has served Bronxville families since 1926, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a street party on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Owner Bob Krause Jr. hosted the evening celebration at 145 Parkway Road, drawing neighbors to an outdoor gathering with live music, food from several downtown restaurants and champagne toasts, MyHometownBronxville.com reported.
The shop's roots stretch back a full century. Mrs. Morgan opened the business in 1926. Robert E. Krause Sr. started working there in 1951 and purchased Mrs. Morgan's shares in 1957, two years after her death. He kept the original name.
Bob Krause Jr. joined the shop in 1976 at 15 years old. He took over the business in 1990 and has run it since, making the Krause family's connection to the shop nearly 75 years long.
The Oct. 15 party filled the block outside the shop with Bronxville residents. Patsy's Pizzeria and Bronxville Steak and Lounge provided food. Bona Bona scooped ice cream. Chantilly Patisserie supplied the birthday cake, and Underhills poured champagne. The band Smokey O played country music while children enjoyed watching an assortment of bubble displays on the sidewalk.
One detail stands out in the shop's century-long run: Mrs. Morgan's still has the same phone number it started with in 1926.
Houlihan & O'Malley, a Bronxville real estate firm, posted congratulations on X, noting the shop's "100 years in business" at the Parkway Road address.
Mrs. Morgan's Flower Shop is at 145 Parkway Road in downtown Bronxville.
