Kelci Hegg, who spent eight seasons leading Concordia College's women's soccer program in Bronxville, has been hired as head coach at Maritime College.

Maritime Athletics announced the hire on Saturday, Aug. 29. The NCAA Division III program competes in the Skyline Conference. Maritime described Hegg as an experienced head coach at the college, high school and club levels.

Hegg arrives at Fort Schuyler after two years as an assistant at Skyline Conference rival Mount St. Vincent, where she helped the Dolphins reach the conference championship game in back-to-back seasons.

The move gives her a head coaching role at the college level for the first time since leaving Concordia.

Before her time at Mount St. Vincent, Hegg coached at Somers High School and served as director of coaching for Westchester Rush, overseeing player development and coach education across the county.

A standout high school player from North Carolina, Hegg played Division I soccer at Vanderbilt, where she finished as the program's leading scorer and still holds the record for most goals in a single match, according to her US Sports Camps coaching profile. She then played five seasons in the USL W-League with the New York Magic from 2009 to 2013, captaining the team.

"My foundation is pretty athlete-centered," Hegg told lohud in October 2020, when she was introduced as Somers' head coach. "I want the girls to take accountability. I love the sport, and I'm hoping they respect the sport as well."

Maritime's season schedule has not yet been released. The Skyline Conference shows all teams at 0-0 entering the fall.
