Westchester County seniors can spend a morning dancing, eating, and making new friends for free at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle on Wednesday, Aug. 19. But they'll need to call ahead.

Reservations are required by Wednesday, Aug. 5. To secure a spot, call Events To Remember at (914) 218-3968.

The Senior Dance Party runs from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the waterfront park on Weyman Avenue in New Rochelle, according to a Westchester County press release published Tuesday, July 15. The county's Department of Senior Programs and Services and its Parks, Recreation and Conservation department are co-hosting the event, which is open to all seniors regardless of municipality.

The day includes a live DJ, dance lessons, and a complimentary lunch. Parking is free.

Commissioner Mae Carpenter, who leads the Department of Senior Programs and Services, framed the event around connection. "A little music, a little movement, and good company can turn strangers into friends," Carpenter said in the county announcement.

Glen Island Park covers 105 acres and features a crescent-shaped beach, picnic areas, and scenic pathways. The event is open to seniors from Bronxville, Scarsdale, Eastchester, and all other Westchester communities.

For general questions about county senior programs, residents can call the Department of Senior Programs and Services at (914) 813-6300.
