A 26-year-old bass-baritone from the Metropolitan Opera's training program performs in Scarsdale on Sunday, Oct. 25, when the New Choral Society opens its 33rd season.

Lonwabo Mose, from Cape Town, South Africa, will sing at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church, 6 Greenacres Ave., at 4 p.m. Mose is in the second year of the Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, according to the Met Opera's website. The program, founded in 1980, trains young opera singers who go on to perform at the Met and opera houses worldwide.

Mose appears by permission of the Lindemann program, the New Choral Society said. During his time at the Met, Mose will make his debut as Happy in La Fanciulla del West and cover the King of Egypt in the company's revival of Aida. Before joining the Met, he performed roles including Ramfis in Aida and Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Cape Town Opera.

Dr. John T. King conducts the Oct. 25 program, which pairs two Haydn works: Te Deum in C and the Lord Nelson Mass. Joining Mose as soloists are soprano Amanda Batista, mezzo-soprano Lindsay Martin and tenor Jonghyun Park.

Martin also performs with the Lindemann program's recital series, according to a Kaufman Music Center listing.

Preferred seating is sold out. General seating tickets remain available at newchoralsociety.org. A virtual streaming option will be available the weekend after the performance.

The New Choral Society collaborates with the Met's Lindemann program to showcase emerging talent in Westchester, according to the society's website.
