Bronxville resident Susan Pace Guma, who spent nearly three decades on the Andrus Board of Directors, will receive the nonprofit's Excellence and Leadership Award at a cocktail fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 1, in Yonkers.

Guma, a recently retired dean of graduate studies at Sarah Lawrence College, served on the Andrus board from 1995 through 2023, including a stint as board chair. The award recognizes her contributions to the organization's strategic growth and evolution, according to the Yonkers Times.

The event, titled "A Night to Imagine What's Possible," runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the historic President's House on the Andrus campus at 1156 North Broadway. Guests can expect passed hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, a silent auction and outdoor networking, with a culinary experience led by Chef Ariela St. Vill.

The evening goes beyond the award. It will spotlight Andrus's growing One Health initiative, a whole-person approach to children's well-being that connects mental health services with nutrition, exercise, relationships and access to supportive environments.

Andrus president and CEO Dr. Corine E. Lurry-Mabin said in an Aug. 18 press release that "lasting change is within our reach when communities come together with a shared commitment to helping children realize their potential."

Westchester County Commissioner of Community Mental Health Michael Orth and county Legislator Jewel Williams Johnson will also speak at the event.

Andrus, a Yonkers-based nonprofit founded in 1928, provides behavioral health, educational, residential and community-based services to roughly 5,000 children and families each year. Its school-based mental health services are embedded in 26 schools across six districts.

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is the event's top sponsor. Other supporters include Graystone Consulting from Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase, BDO and St. John's Riverside Hospital.
