The Rocky Horror Picture Show screens at The Picture House in Bronxville and Pelham on Oct. 30 and 31, headlining a Halloween weekend lineup at the nonprofit theater.
Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall, opens Oct. 30 at the Pelham location for a weeklong run, according to ArtsWestchester's October movie guide. Various showtimes are available for both films.
The night before, the theater hosts its rescheduled annual fundraiser, Party on Witch-Kraft, on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Bronxville location. A nor'easter forced the postponement of the original date.
The evening starts at 6 p.m. with live music from Freeway & Friends, food trucks Pugsley Pizza and Tecas Tacos, and drinks including La Casa's margaritas, according to MyHometownBronxville. At 8 p.m., guests move inside for a choice of three films: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Friday the 13th and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Costumes are encouraged.
Bronxville residents Gina Nigido Lander, Sarab Leivers and Meredith Dixon co-chair the fundraiser. Proceeds support The Picture House's programming at its Bronxville and Pelham theaters.
Clayton Bushong, executive director of The Picture House Regional Film Center, said in an Oct. 7 MyHometownBronxville article that the event is "a chance to celebrate together, enjoy a great night at the movies, and support our historic nonprofit theater at the heart of the Bronxville community."
Beyond Halloween, several fall releases are playing or arriving at The Picture House. Primetime, directed by Lance Oppenheim and starring Robert Pattinson as a fictionalized version of To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, is playing at the theater.
Phoebe Bridgers makes her acting debut in the film alongside Merritt Wever.
Digger, a dark comedy directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu with Tom Cruise in extensive prosthetics as an oil tycoon, is also at The Picture House. The Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything, from Nathan Fielder and Oppenheim, opens Oct. 23. The film follows the 34 days before Holmes began her prison sentence for fraud.
This year's Cannes Palme d'Or winner Fjord, starring Sebastian Stan, arrives at The Picture House on Nov. 20.
The theater is running two deals through October. Students get 50% off tickets every Thursday at both the Bronxville and Pelham locations with a valid student ID at the box office. Moviegoers 65 and older can attend free Tuesday afternoon screenings at 2:30 p.m. through the Senior Cinema program, which runs through June.
