Scarsdale's Halloween Window Painting Contest reaches its 75th edition Sunday, Oct. 18, in downtown Scarsdale.

The Village of Scarsdale's Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation is hosting the milestone event, which is open to children in grades 3 through 10 who live in Scarsdale or on Garth Road, attend a Scarsdale school or attend Immaculate Heart of Mary School, according to the village's event listing. A family option is available for children and parents, teens above 10th grade and adults who want to take part in the tradition.

Painting runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Judging takes place Monday, Oct. 19.

Deputy Village Manager Emily Giovanni announced the contest details at the Sept. 22 Village Board meeting, as reported by Scarsdale10583. "The Halloween Window Painting Contest will take place in downtown Scarsdale on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 9 am to 4pm with judging on Monday, October 19, 2026," Giovanni said at the meeting.

Registration fees are $30 per individual, $40 per pair and $40 per family of up to five members, according to the Scarsdale10583 event page. Space is limited, and registration is open at scarsdale.gov/recreation.

Scarsdale10583 described the 75th edition as a continuation of "a beloved Scarsdale tradition." The Village of Scarsdale's official X account shared photos of student-painted storefronts in the Village Center after a prior year's contest, showing the Halloween artwork that lines downtown shop windows each October.

Mayor Justin Arest highlighted the contest in a Sept. 9 community letter alongside other fall events, including Light the 'Dale on Dec. 4.
