A bicyclist was hit by a car on East Parkway on Wednesday, July 22, and transported to White Plains Hospital Center for evaluation, according to the Scarsdale Police Department. The driver was turning into a parking spot when the collision occurred.

Car break-in on Cohawney Drive

On Friday, July 24, a Cohawney Drive resident reported that a car parked in the driveway had been rummaged through. The vehicle was last seen untouched about three days earlier and was most likely left unlocked, Scarsdale police said. The resident did not believe anything was stolen.

Lightning strikes Butler Road home

Also on July 22, lightning struck a house on Butler Road, causing an electrical outlet to smoke. Scarsdale firefighters found a burnt outlet in a second-floor bathroom, isolated the electrical circuit at the garage breaker panel, and discovered the irrigation system controller was no longer functioning. No other hazards were found. The resident was advised to contact an electrician.

$1,000 in cash missing after car service

A Weaver Street resident reported on Monday, July 20, that $1,000 in cash disappeared during a service appointment. Two children had each accidentally left an envelope containing $500 in the backseat. When the car was picked up, both envelopes were gone. The owner and employees of the service center told police they neither saw nor took any envelopes.

Other police activity

A box truck struck a bridge on the Hutchinson River Parkway on Tuesday, July 21, and exited at Mamaroneck Road. Westchester County police handled the incident.

On Thursday, July 23, police responded to a domestic dispute on Morris Lane after a man called 911 saying his girlfriend came home intoxicated. Both parties confirmed the argument did not become physical. They agreed to sleep separately for the night.

Around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, officers contacted the parents of an intoxicated young man found on Brewster Road. He was conscious and alert, and his parents picked him up.

Police issued summonses for illegally parked cars on Brambach Road on July 20 and Larch Lane on July 22, and for gas-powered leaf blower use on Whig Road on July 24 in violation of Village code. A warning was also issued on Tunstall Road for the same violation.

Fire Department calls

Beyond the Butler Road lightning strike, firefighters responded to a false alarm on Secor Road on July 21 caused by water leaking into an alarm device, stood by for Con Edison at a gas odor on Popham Road on July 24, and assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway on Sunday, July 26.

Three car accidents were officially reported in the village during the week.
