Bronxville Public Library patrons who rely on phone calls to find out when books on hold are ready will need to switch to email or text notifications before the end of 2026.

The change is part of a system-wide shift by the Westchester Library System, which is phasing out automated phone notifications across its member libraries, according to a notice posted on the library's website on Monday, Sept. 14.

The automated renew-by-phone line, 914-674-4169, is also going away.

The notice asks cardholders to log in and update their notification preference to either email or text before the cutoff.

Patrons who do not have access to email or text messaging can call the Circulation Desk at 914-337-7680 to check on holds or ask questions about the transition.

The notice does not specify an exact shutdown date beyond "by the end of the year."

Bronxville Public Library is at 201 Pondfield Road in Bronxville.
