Registration is open for the Katie Welling Memorial Run/Walk, a 2.5-mile race set for Saturday, Nov. 28, in front of the Bronxville School.

Check-in opens at 8 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m., according to MyHometownBronxville.com. All proceeds benefit the Bronxville School Foundation, which supports education at the school.

The event honors Katie Welling, a 2002 Bronxville School graduate who died in an off-campus fire at Miami University in Ohio when she had just turned 21. The run commemorates what organizers describe as Katie's sense of humor, her infectious laugh and her love of life.

Organizers also remember Tom Welling, Katie's father, who passed away in 2022. Tom led planning for the event for 15 years and was a former board member of the Bronxville School Foundation.

How to register

Online registration is open through Wednesday, Nov. 25, at noon on the Bronxville School Foundation's website.

The in-person registration fee is $25 through Nov. 27 and $30 on race day. In-person sign-ups are available on two dates:

  • Friday, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fleet Feet, 52 Pondfield Road, Bronxville
  • Saturday, Nov. 28, from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the front entrance of the Bronxville School

In-person registrants can pay by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, cash or check made payable to the Bronxville School Foundation.

Virtual option

Participants who cannot attend in person can take part virtually by running, walking or biking any time from Nov. 15 through Nov. 30. Treadmills and stationary bikes count. There is no registration fee for virtual participants, though organizers welcome tax-deductible contributions.
