Movie fans in Bronxville are getting a rare chance to skip the red carpet and go straight to the conversation.
Actor Lou Diamond Phillips will visit The Picture House Bronxville on Wednesday, July 8, for the Westchester premiere of his crime drama “Gangland,” kicking off the latest installment of the theater’s summer film series, Reel Conversations.
The series turns a typical movie night into a behind-the-scenes experience, pairing screenings with live discussions between filmmakers, actors and the audience. Film critic Joe Neumaier hosts each event.
“One of the great joys of moviegoing is the conversation that follows,” said Clayton Bushong, executive director of The Picture House Regional Film Center.
The remaining Reel Conversations lineup includes:
- Wednesday, July 8: Lou Diamond Phillips, “Gangland”
- Wednesday, July 22: Jessica Earnshaw, “Baby Doe”
- Wednesday, July 29: Christian Nilsson, “Westhampton”
- Wednesday, Aug. 5: Penny Lane, “Wild Inside”
All screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. at The Picture House, 84 Kraft Ave. Tickets are $20 individually or $80 for the full series.

Thursday evening concerts will rotate between Park Place and Parkway Road throughout July and August, with live music and nearby restaurants offering food during the events.
