Christian Pastorino, first-prize winner of the 2025 Franz Schubert International Competition, will perform a free recital in Scarsdale.
The Italian pianist plays Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. at Hoff-Barthelson Music School's Joan Behrens Bergman Auditorium, 25 School Lane.
Admission is free, but reservations are requested because of limited seating.
The program is subject to change, according to the school's event page. It includes Chopin's Scherzo in B-flat minor, Schumann's Fantasiestücke, Scriabin's Valse in A-flat major and Deux Poèmes, and Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12.
Earlier that day, Pastorino will lead a master class at the school. Gabriella Sanna, executive director of Hoff-Barthelson Music School, said the pairing reflects the school's mission. "The master class offers an opportunity to explore the ideas and musical choices behind a performance, while the evening recital invites our wider community to experience that artistry firsthand," Sanna said, according to the Yonkers Times.
Pastorino is also a 2024 laureate of the Paul Badura-Skoda Competition in Vienna. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Vatican Museums in Rome and the Ravenna Festival. He has also recorded film soundtracks for Italy's National Film School in Rome.
He earned bachelor's and master's degrees with highest honors from the "N. Paganini" Conservatory in Genoa. He then completed an advanced artist diploma at the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo, where he studied with pianist Roberto Plano.
