The Picture House Bronxville will screen the romance film "Charlie Harper" on Wednesday, Sept. 23, two days before its wide U.S. release.
Co-director Mac Eldridge will stay for a Q&A after the 7:30 p.m. show.
The screening at the Kraft Avenue theater gives Bronxville audiences an early look at the film, which stars Emilia Jones, Nick Robinson and Nicholas Cirillo. "Charlie Harper" premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and is scheduled for wide release Friday, Sept. 25, distributed by Row K Entertainment.
The film is rated R. It runs one hour and 42 minutes and marks the feature directorial debut of Eldridge and co-director Tom Dean, who also wrote the screenplay.
In the story, Charlie and Harper appear to meet for the first time at an engagement party for mutual friends. When a specific song triggers old memories, their shared history surfaces through flashbacks from both perspectives, according to the Picture House event listing.
On his website, Eldridge describes the project as "an emotional modern romance that explores the tension between love, ambition, identity, and personal growth."
The screening falls during the Picture House's Centennial year. The theater opened in 1926 and launched its 100th-anniversary celebration on Saturday, Sept. 12, with 25-cent tickets, the same price moviegoers paid a century ago, according to the Pelham Examiner. The Picture House has planned special screenings and events throughout the anniversary year, said Clayton Bushong, executive director of The Picture House Regional Film Center.
Ticket prices for the Sept. 23 screening were not listed at the time of publication. The Picture House Bronxville is at 84 Kraft Ave. Visit thepicturehouse.org or call 914-961-4030 for tickets and showtimes.
