Sarah Lawrence College consolidated five student-services offices into a single new space on its Bronxville campus, opening the Experiential Learning Center on Sept. 9.

The center, which the college calls the "XLC," gathers Career Services, Community Partnerships & Engagement, SLC EmbeddEd (the college's embedded-learning program), Global Education and Pre-Professional Advising under one roof.

Those offices had been scattered across campus. Students seeking career help, study-abroad guidance or community-engagement resources now have a single stop.

The XLC occupies a previously unused front-facing section of the Performing Arts Center, a location the college chose to make the services more visible to students, alumni, employers and community partners. Inside, the space includes co-working areas, collaborative workspaces, private meeting pods and dedicated rooms for advising and programming.

President Cristle Collins Judd, writing in an August 2026 letter, said graduating seniors got a sneak preview of the center in the spring before its official opening.

At the Sept. 9 open house, Judd said the tradition of hands-on learning "has been a hallmark of a Sarah Lawrence education since its founding 100 years ago."

The college, founded in 1926, is marking its centennial during the 2026–2027 academic year.

New York State Sen. Shelley Mayer attended the open house, along with Bridget Gibbons, Westchester County's director of economic development, Jason Chapin, director of workforce development at the Westchester County Association, and Dr. Rosalba Corrado Del Vecchio, president of the Yonkers Board of Education, according to a community post on Bronxville Patch. Students, community members and business leaders also attended.

No construction cost or renovation budget for the project has been publicly disclosed.
