The Scarsdale Raiders 10U travel softball team lost 5-4 to North Riverdale in the Greater Hudson Valley Softball League championship game on Aug. 12 in Ardsley, ending the team's bid for back-to-back titles.

It was the second straight championship game for the Raiders, who won the GHVSL title in 2025. Scarsdale reached this year's finals by winning three consecutive playoff games, finishing second in a 27-team division.

Head coaches Dave Scagnelli, Nick Scagnelli and Chris Scagnelli led a 14-player roster through the summer season. After the one-run loss, North Riverdale praised the Raiders as fierce competitors, and the Scarsdale players received silver medals, according to a community report on scarsdale10583.com. North Riverdale also posted about the championship win on Instagram.

Finishing second out of 27 teams caps a two-year stretch in which the Scagnelli-coached program has been the division's most consistent squad. The Raiders won the whole thing in 2025 and returned to the final this summer with a mix of new and returning players.

The 2026 roster included Arya Fraina, Ashlynn Sipprelle, Avery Feldman, Clara Bliss, Julia DeMartini, Lillian Bliss, Madeline Cronin, Madeline McDermott, Malula Schuerlein, Mary Nietupski, Rachel DeMartini, Rory DeLucia, Simran Dhiman and Sonya Rosenblatt.

The article on scarsdale10583.com, written by Danielle Feldman and published the evening of the championship game, drew more than 700 page views within days. Two finals appearances in two summers, in a division this size, puts the Scarsdale 10U program among the GHVSL's elite.
