Two Scarsdale homeowners and one synagogue can move forward with building projects after the Village Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) voted unanimously to approve three applications at its Wednesday, July 22 meeting. Two other cases were pushed to September.
The board then began a seven-week summer recess. It won't meet again until Wednesday, September 9.
What got approved
25 Crossway — Angshuman Saha won approval with a condition to exceed the village's maximum floor area ratio for a second-story addition. The vote was 4-0. Barry Meiselman made the motion; Michael Kass seconded. The specific condition attached to the approval was not detailed in the posted decisions document.
18 Richbell Road — Claire and David Kusnetz received a special use permit to install a swimming pool and spa. The vote was 4-0. Meiselman made the motion; Eric Lichtenstein seconded.
2 Ogden Road — Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El won a side yard setback variance to build a pergola. The vote was 4-0. Kass made the motion; Lichtenstein seconded.
What got delayed
10 Oak Lane — David Schnur's request for a front yard setback variance to build a foyer addition was continued to the September 9 meeting. The vote to continue was 4-0. Kass made the motion; Meiselman seconded.
139 White Road — Dominic Ciafardini's new application seeking two variances, a rear yard setback and a floor area ratio exception for a second-floor addition, was also continued to September 9. Lichtenstein made the motion; Kass seconded. The vote was 4-0.
Who voted
Chairman Jeffrey Watiker, Meiselman, Lichtenstein, and Kass were present and voted on all five cases. Member Elizabeth Hoexter was absent.
The decisions were signed by Kellan D. Cantrell, the village's director of planning, and posted to scarsdale.gov on Thursday, July 23.
