Three high schools serving Bronxville, Scarsdale and Edgemont families all landed in New York's top 50 in the 2026-27 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings, released Tuesday, Aug. 18.

All three made the cut.

Edgemont Junior-Senior High School on White Oak Lane in Scarsdale led the local pack at No. 33 in the state and No. 3,291 nationally. Scarsdale Senior High School followed at No. 40 statewide (No. 3,866 nationally), and Bronxville High School placed No. 50 in New York (No. 4,735 nationally).

Bronxville's 100 percent graduation rate stood out among the trio. Scarsdale posted 99 percent and Edgemont 98 percent.

The annual rankings, produced with research firm RTI International, evaluated more than 27,000 public high schools nationwide and ranked nearly 18,000 across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Schools were scored on six factors, with college readiness weighted most heavily at 30 percent of the total score, followed by state assessment proficiency and state assessment performance at 20 percent each. Graduation rate accounted for 10 percent. The data comes from the 2023-24 school year, according to Patch.

New York did not allow the use of its schools' AP data in this year's rankings, which may have affected how local schools scored on the college-readiness measure.

Bronxville High School enrolls 528 students in grades 9 through 12 on its Pondfield Road campus, where the elementary, middle and high school share one building. Scarsdale Senior High School is the largest of the three with 1,478 students, while Edgemont serves 596 in grades 9 through 12.

For regional context, Harrison High School earned the Hudson Valley's top spot at No. 4 in New York and No. 211 nationally, also with a 100 percent graduation rate.

The new rankings arrive two weeks before the school year begins. The Edgemont Union Free School District, led by Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Hamilton, and the Eastchester Union Free School District both open Wednesday, Sept. 2.
