Bronxville-area residents can help domestic violence survivors starting Thursday, Oct. 1, by dropping off toiletries at a county collection point in White Plains.
The Westchester County Office for Women is running a personal care donation drive throughout October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, according to a county press release. A collection box will be set up in the main lobby of the Michaelian Office Building on Martine Avenue and will stay through Oct. 31.
Donated items go to shelters and service providers. Recipients include people getting help through the Office for Women.
The drive is looking for toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, hairbrushes, combs, tampons, sanitary pads, travel-size personal care products and other essential overnight items.
"No one should have to worry about access to basic necessities while navigating an already difficult situation," Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said in the announcement. "This donation drive is a simple but meaningful way for our community to come together and support survivors of domestic violence."
Catherine Borgia, acting director of the Office for Women, said the month is a chance to remind survivors that they are not alone and that the county wants to connect them with help.
The Office for Women has served as Westchester County's central resource on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and related issues for more than 40 years. The office provides counseling by appointment in English and Spanish for people seeking safety from interpersonal violence.
The office also oversees the county's Domestic Violence High Risk Team, known as the DVHRT. As of February 2026, the team had fielded nearly 7,000 calls to its LAP Line and trained nearly 5,000 police officers across every law enforcement agency in the county, according to state data.
How to donate: Bring new personal care items to the Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Ave., main lobby, White Plains, NY 10601. The collection box is available Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. More information about the Office for Women is available at women.westchestercountyny.gov.
