Bronxville, Scarsdale and Eastchester residents must register to vote by Oct. 24 to cast a ballot in the Nov. 3 general election.

The Westchester County Board of Legislators held a bipartisan Committee of the Whole meeting Wednesday, Sept. 30, where Board of Elections Commissioners Tajian M. Nelson and Douglas A. Colety laid out key deadlines and voting options, according to the Yonkers Times. The session drew 16 legislators, in person and remotely, along with Kathy Meany, president of the Northwest Westchester League of Women Voters, who spoke about voter outreach efforts.

Voters have three ways to cast a ballot.

Registration deadlines

Mail-in registration applications must reach the Westchester County Board of Elections by Oct. 24, according to the county's election website. Online registrations through the DMV must be completed by Oct. 23. Residents who miss both cutoffs can still register and vote the same day at any early voting site on Oct. 24.

Early voting

Early voting runs from Oct. 24 through Nov. 1. Weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, polls are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday hours are noon to 8 p.m. Specific early voting site locations for Bronxville, Scarsdale and Eastchester had not been posted to the county website as of Sept. 30.

Mail ballots

Any registered voter can request a mail ballot without providing an excuse. Completed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day. The Board of Elections recommends mailing early and getting a postmark at the post office. Voters can also drop off completed ballots at the Board of Elections office, any early voting site or their polling place on Election Day.

The Board of Elections has moved to 445 Hamilton Ave., 8th Floor, White Plains.

Chairman Vedat Gashi, who represents the New Castle, Ossining, Somers and Yorktown district, said at the Sept. 30 session, "I encourage everyone to watch the discussion, check out the Board's 'Be Election Ready' social media series, and make a plan to vote."

On Election Day, Nov. 3, polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. Voters can look up their ballot and polling place on the county elections website.
