Scarsdale Scout Troop 4 picked up a $3,250 check from Wilson & Son Jewelers, the latest in a monthly donation program the downtown jeweler launched to mark Scarsdale's 325th anniversary.
The troop was the August pick. Wilson & Son wrote on Instagram on Aug. 28 that the funds will support the troop's character-building programs, service projects and summer camp for scouts ages 11 to 17.
The giving program, which Wilson & Son announced in January, awards $3,250 each month to a Scarsdale nonprofit selected by community vote. The dollar figure mirrors the village's anniversary year. Residents can nominate organizations by direct message or by emailing [email protected].
The group with the most votes during each monthly voting period gets the donation. Each organization can win only once per calendar year.
To qualify, a nonprofit must be based in and primarily operating within the Village of Scarsdale.
Wilson & Son has been a downtown Scarsdale fixture since Meyer Wilson moved the business from Bronxville to Scarsdale in 1932. Chelsea, Stephanie and Allison Wilson now run the shop as the fifth generation of the family. The store sits in the Harwood Building, where it relocated in 2021. The family also hand-engraves the Scarsdale Bowl award each year for the Scarsdale Foundation, according to the Scarsdale Historical Society.
Wilson & Son's Instagram post praised Troop 4's volunteers for supporting local parks, nursing home residents and veterans. Troop leaders are encouraging Scarsdale youth ages 11 to 17 to join.
Voting for the September donation recipient is open. Residents can nominate a Scarsdale charity or cast a vote through Wilson & Son Jewelers' social media pages or by email.
