The Bronxville Broncos open their 2026 football season under the lights on Sept. 4, hosting Averill Park at 6 p.m. in a non-conference opener at 177 Pondfield Road.

It will be the first home game since the Broncos capped a perfect 12-0 season by beating Chenango Forks 42-25 in the New York State Class C championship game on Dec. 6, 2025, at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse. That title, the program's first since 2010, made head coach Patsy Manganelli's squad the team every Section 1 opponent wants to knock off.

"They earned it with all the work they've put in. They deserved this," Manganelli told lohud after the state final in December 2025.

The Broncos won't have long to settle in. Conference play begins Thursday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. when Albertus Magnus of Bardonia visits Pondfield Road.

The game to circle

The marquee matchup arrives Friday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m., when Bronxville travels to Dobbs Ferry (505 Broadway) for a Section 1 conference clash. The Eagles were the last team to face the Broncos in a game that mattered: Bronxville routed Dobbs Ferry 56-6 in the Section 1 Class C championship on Nov. 15, 2025, at Mahopac High School.

The confirmed home schedule continues Saturday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. against Valhalla, another conference opponent, back at Pondfield Road.

New faces, familiar culture

The 2026 roster will look different. Three key contributors from the championship run have moved on to college football: Thomas Freeman (Princeton), Walker Moore (Williams) and Kieran O'Neil (Bowdoin). Freeman, a linebacker and wide receiver, was a standout in the 56-6 sectional final win over Dobbs Ferry.

Still, as we reported Aug. 11, five current Broncos earned spots on lohud's preseason watch list, signaling the program's depth hasn't dried up. Manganelli returns for another season at the helm.

The Broncos outscored opponents by an average of 29.5 points per game during the 2025 championship season. Whether that dominance carries over depends on how quickly the next wave gels under Friday night pressure.
