A former elementary school classmate of Chester Green told the New York Post that Green displayed violent behavior and made threats dating back to grade school, years before he was charged with killing his mother in their Scarsdale home.
The classmate, who was not named, said in a story published Friday, July 10, that Green had an obsession with knives and swords and would threaten other children.
"We definitely had some other kids that were a little off, but as we got to middle school, and grew out of some elementary school behaviors, nobody talked about violence the way he did," the classmate said.

She described Green screaming in classmates' faces at recess and then walking away. She recalled that when they were about 13, Green smacked her much-younger sister's hand during a carpool to an ice skating lesson, causing it to swell. The carpooling stopped after that.
The classmate also told the Post that Green threatened to kill her entire family when they were in elementary school, a threat she learned about from her mother.
Green, 26, was charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday, July 8, in the death of Marian Green, 71, at their home at 43 Butler Road in the Fox Meadow neighborhood. Prosecutors allege he stabbed and beat her multiple times between Sunday, July 5, and Tuesday, July 7. He remains held without bail at the Westchester County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Nancy Meyers Silverman, 57, a close friend of Marian Green, offered a different perspective. She told the Post that Marian had worked for years to find a productive path for her only child, encouraging his interest in blacksmithing and bringing him to political and community meetings.
"She was worried about her son, she really was," Silverman said. "She wanted him to be a productive part of society."
Silverman said Chester attended special education classes and never quite fit in but that she never saw signs suggesting he could become violent. Marian Green's husband died a few years before the killing, and mother and son lived alone at the Butler Road home.
The killing was Scarsdale's first homicide in a decade. The previous case, in January 2016, involved Julius Reich stabbing his estranged wife, pediatrician Robin Goldman, in their Lincoln Avenue home.

Marian Green chaired the village's Advisory Council for People with Disabilities and previously led C.H.I.L.D., a committee advocating for special-needs children in Scarsdale schools. Ronny Hersch, who served alongside her on the advisory council for more than a decade, said they first met when Green ran the school store at Scarsdale Middle School while Chester was a student there.
Defense attorney Michael Borrelli did not request bail at the July 8 arraignment and asked that his client undergo physical and psychiatric evaluation while detained. Green did not enter a plea; pleas are not entered on felonies in local court.
