The Pace Women's Justice Center will honor retired dean Angie D'Agostino at its 35th anniversary benefit dinner on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Mulino's at Lake Isle in Eastchester.
The announcement was first reported by the Yonkers Times. The event begins at 6 p.m. at 660 White Plains Road, inside Lake Isle Country Club. It will also recognize the attorneys and former law students who have volunteered through PWJC's Pro Bono Volunteer Program over the center's 35-year history.
D'Agostino, known to generations of Pace law students as "Dean D," is a three-time Pace graduate who joined the Elisabeth Haub School of Law staff in 1986. She held several leadership positions in admissions and student affairs before serving as Dean for Students and Campus Affairs. She retired in 2026 after nearly four decades at the school, according to the event's official page.
Cindy Kanusher, PWJC's executive director, said D'Agostino helped connect law students with the center's work on behalf of domestic violence survivors. Kanusher said it is "especially meaningful to honor Angie, whose own legacy reflects the advocacy, community and service that have defined PWJC's work."
D'Agostino said she was deeply honored by the recognition and proud to celebrate the milestone with PWJC.
The center was founded in 1991 as the Battered Women's Justice Center through a partnership between then-Gov. Mario Cuomo, the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) and Pace University School of Law. It was renamed the Pace Women's Justice Center in 1998. Kanusher has served as executive director since 2015.
PWJC now serves more than 3,500 survivors each year with free civil legal help, including orders of protection, custody, divorce and support matters. Its clients are 93% women, mostly low-income with children. The center's outreach and training programs reach more than 10,000 people annually through over 140 community programs, according to the center's page on Pace's website.
Each year, volunteers contribute more than 10,000 hours. Over the past 20 years, pro bono volunteers have logged more than 160,000 total hours of service expanding access to justice for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse.
The benefit dinner is co-chaired by Lauren C. Enea, Esq. and Emily Richman, Esq. Individual tickets cost $350. Student and recent-graduate tickets are $275. Sponsorship and journal ad opportunities are also available at PWJC35.com, or contact [email protected] or call (914) 422-4396.
