Three nights of fireworks begin Friday, Sept. 4, at Playland Park in Rye, with shows also scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, and Monday, Sept. 7. Each display begins at 9 p.m.
The fireworks mark the end of the summer season at the Westchester County-run park, about a 10-mile drive from Bronxville. Admission is free all weekend.
Friday's lineup includes a 7 p.m. performance by Broadway Sings on the Playland stage before the fireworks. The group features Broadway performers singing pop hits.
Ride wristbands cost $15 for Westchester County residents and $25 for non-residents. Parking is $15 per car.
"We invite residents and visitors to make the most of these final summer nights," Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said in a statement published by the Yonkers Times. "There is something truly special about ending a day at Playland with family and friends watching the sky light up over Long Island Sound."
Westchester County Parks Acting Commissioner William Bland called the firework shows one of the park's most cherished summer traditions in the same statement.
The park, which has operated on the Long Island Sound waterfront since 1928, is open noon to 10 p.m. through Monday, Sept. 7. The beach and pool are open 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with last entry at 6 p.m., weather permitting. Separate admission fees apply for beach and pool access.
Playland will also stay open the following weekend, Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, from noon to 7 p.m. As we reported Sept. 3, the county is weighing a $55 million rebuild of Playland's Ice Casino, a project that could reshape the park in coming years.
