Bronxville Elementary School fifth graders explored Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and other historic Philadelphia landmarks during a two-day overnight field trip Oct. 15-16.

The students visited the National Constitution Center, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the National Liberty Museum, according to the Bronxville School district.

Through exhibits at those sites, they studied the Constitution and examined how historical events have shaped the nation's laws and freedoms.

The itinerary went beyond the history museums. Students rode a double-decker bus tour through the city, stopping at the Rocky Steps. They also visited the Franklin Institute, where they explored interactive exhibits.

Teacher Sara Williams coordinated the trip with Lauren Geremia. Williams said the students made wonderful memories, strengthened friendships and demonstrated independence and responsibility along the way.

Geremia said it was especially rewarding to watch students connect what they had learned in the classroom to the historical sites they encountered on the trip.

"We are incredibly proud of how they represented Bronxville and the independence, curiosity, and enthusiasm they showed throughout the trip," Geremia said. "Watching them learn, grow, and make lasting memories together is what makes this experience so special."

The district posted a recap of the trip on Oct. 26.
